How are FCCJ courses
created in Blackboard?
FCCJ courses are automatically created
in both Blackboard once the courses are encoded through
the FCCJ system. FCCJ
encoded courses can not be
created manually. They must be created through this automated process in order
so that students and faculty populate into the course properly. top
How often is student, faculty, and course
data (information) updated in
Blackboard?
The student, faculty, and course data is updated every
morning in Blackboard. If a student registers for a course, they
will automatically be
populated into that course by the next day. When the encoded courses are automatically
created, faculty are automatically associated with the course. If there is
a
change in the instructor teaching the course, that change must go through the
encoding process so that the course can be associated with the new instructor.
Learning Innovations can not manually change instructors if there is an instructor
change. top
Why do courses
remain on the MY FCCJ course listings for one year?
The courses remain on the Blackboard
servers for one year to comply with the college's Incomplete
policy. Students
have one calendar year to complete
a course after an issuance of the "I grade.
Incomplete Grade
("I") The primary use of the "I" grade is to permit a student to complete
academic work that he/she was unable to complete during an academic term, due
to reasonable non-academic grounds. The issuance of the "I" grade
is the decision of the course instructor. The course instructor may ask the
student to furnish documentation verifying the grounds for the student’s
request for an "I" grade. The course instructor is not obligated
to issue an "I" grade.
In order to be eligible for an "I" grade the student
must be passing the course at the time of the request, and
have must completed a minimum of
70% of the course work. The "I" grade shall remain in effect
no longer than one calendar year from the date of the request for an "I" grade.
The student and course instructor shall mutually agree upon the required
course work necessary to earn a grade in the course and remove the "I" grade.
Upon successful completion of the required course work, the course instructor
will initiate a "change of grade form" with the new grade earned
to replace the "I" grade. If the required course work is not
successfully completed within the one calendar year, the "I" grade
will automatically convert to an "F" grade. Students cannot reregister
for the courses in which they receive an "I" grade. top
How do I know which courses to make available to students at the beginning
of the semester?
If you are using Blackboard for the semester, you
need to make your course available to your students. top

distance learning students. http://www.distancelearning.org/learnersupport/index.html
The Learning Support Center will contact Learning Innovations
for complex issues. top
Why can't Learning
Innovations manually add students to encoded Blackboard courses?
