Using the MacLab

The new MacLab, located at FCCJ's Deerwood Center, is a peek into the future of technology. Twenty-one Apple iMac computers are available to help faculty create visual and audible learning content. The MacLab will also be a hub for distributing college educational material via faculty-authored podcasts, which will be distributd through both Apple's iTunes University and Blackboard. Seminars will also be availabe for hands-on training with Apple software such as GarageBand, iPhoto, Keynote, Pages, iMovie and iDVD. Seminar information will be available through FCCU, and will be distributed at the Deerwood Center, as well.

Learn how to use Apple’s iLife and iWork software to pull together your photos, videos, text, graphics and data into multimedia content for distribution in a number of innovative ways, including web pages, podcasts, DVDs and print documents in Word or .pdf format.

The Mac Multimedia Users Group will help you you explore the possibilities of developing multimedia content using:

* iPhoto to manage your digital images and create web pages, handouts and beautiful 4-color hardback and spiral bound printed books

* GarageBand to create audio podcasts and enhanced audio podcasts

* Keynote to import and update your existing Powerpoint presentations, then record your new presentation/lecture for distribution as a podcast or an iTunes movie

* iMovie to import your video tapes or create a video at your desktop

* iDVD to distribute your videos and pictures on DVDs

The Users Group will also offer tips on getting the most from your video and digital still cameras.
