WebCT Support - How to Backup and Upload a Course



To copy material from an existing course in WebCT 3.5 or 4.0 to one of your new shells in 4.0 where the students are enrolled:

1. Enter the "manage course" area of the course where the material is that you want to copy.

2. Click on "Create backup."

3. Enter a description for the backup - I suggest the date as a description. Then click"create."

4. Now, you will see a statement of success and you will need to click "continue."

5. You will now see a list of all backups with the descriptions (dates so you will know which is which). Select the most recent backup and click "download" and save it to your desktop, zip drive, or hard drive.

6. Now, go into the course shell where you want to put the material. Go into the "manage course" area and click on "upload backup." Then select the backup that we just uploaded and click on the restore that says, "keep users." This will keep the students that are enrolled to your shell through Orion and ignore any students that may be in your backup course.

7. You're done! Just click on the homepage of your course and see all your material has been transferred!
